Berlin impressions

This is a video Tomlinscote produced for the PASCH-net online magazine Schülerbild.
Have a look at the little city tour around Berlin (and learn some means of transport in German along the way):

Follow this link to see more videos produced by other Pasch-schools in North-West-Europe.
Do have a look at the Irish contribution! Maybe we'll play around with an 'Apfelsine' soon, too....

Student of the Month - January 2012

The Tomlinscote student of the month is

Georgina Rawlings in 11X

for her fantastic work and dedication in Japanese!

This is her second award! She is always punctual to class, her homework and classwork are both consistently perfectly completed.

Well done to you, Georgina!

Student of the Month - January 2012 (primary)

Frau Mahler's students of the month are the winners of a competition held at Ravenscote Junior School:

....and the winners are:

for year 5: Christina Exall (5NL)

                  Congratulations!

The following people also produced fantastic texts and pictures and deserve a special mention here:

In year 6, in second place Rebecca Carnie (6F), in third place Amy Butterley (6ML), and in joint fourth Sophie Marney (6M/S) and Ditte Wikke (6M/S).

In year 5, in second place Rachel Eadie (5NL), in third Laila Dackombe (5BE) and in fourth place Joshua Davies-Lye (5S)

Happy Chinese New Year!

Today is Chinese New Year - it's the start of the
Year of the Dragon!
People in China clean the house to attract good luck and give one another presents. On New Year's Eve, families have a big feast together and set off fireworks, and in the morning children receive money in red paper envelopes.

A special greeting to all the Chinese learners at Tomlinscote!

Click on the image below to get a link for a really tricky game identifying Chinese sounds! How many will you get correctly?

Student of the Month - December 2011 (2)

Congratulations to Kelsey Parsons on her outstanding achievement in being awarded a place at
Trinity Hall, Cambridge, to read Chinese!

The Language College is very proud that we have two language students with places at Oxford and Cambridge for 2012!

Kelsey is the first Tomlinscote student to have an Oxbridge place to study Chinese. Well done, Kelsey!

This month, we also celebrate a budding linguist from year 7:
Lauren Wiggins in 7Y has written this fabulous text about her school in French:  Magnifique!
